About

Joanna completed her tertiary education in 1998, after a three year course at Photography Studies' College, Melbourne. She completed a Commercial Major in her final year of study.

After working for herself for 2 1/2 years after the completion of her education, Joanna built up an extensive client base in Melbourne. Clients included Sheraton Towers Southgate Hotel, St Kilda Football Club, 'Burke's Backyard' Magazine, 'Lifestyle Pools' Magazine as well as producing photographs for various architects, interior designers, landscape gardeners and corporate companies.

Joanna was approached by Leaders Newspaper (News Limited) in 2000 and worked full time for the newspapers for 10 years. Working for such a company allowed Joanna to develop her skills in various genres of photography, including real estate, news, photojournalism, architecture, sport, portraiture and people.

For three years Joanna worked for 'Umag', a glossy insert in two of the inner city Leader Publications, which allowed her to photograph both international and local celebrities, including celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, Hollywood actor Michael Vartan, Jeanne Little, Christine Anu, Deborra-Lee Furness, Radha Mitchell, Marina Prior, Brett Tucker, Ian Stenlake, Larry Emdur, Jemma Gawned, John Jarratt, Anthony Callea, Matt Welsh, Human Nature, Jaime Durie, Phil Cebrano, Shannon Noll and former Prime Minister John Howard and Kevin Rudd to name a few.

After meeting Rob, her husband on Channel 9's The Farmer Wants A Wife, Joanna has moved permanently to Mount Gambier and has started her own photography business.  Since her move to the South East, Joanna has completed work for many large local businesses including Giannis and the Body Retreat, Lifestyle Pools magazine, Holiday in Robe, the South Australian Tourism Commission, Qantas magazine, The Barn, SA Life magazine, Wynn’s, Rymill, Balnaves and Hollick of Coonawarra as well as photographing weddings, family portraits and corporate events. Joanna’s work with Katina Sims at Gianni’s and the Body Retreat has been substantial.  Joanna photographed the winning image which saw Katina win the Australian Creative Colorist Award in the 2009 Goldwell Color Challenge, which ultimately saw Katina represent as well as win for Australia in Las Vegas.

Joanna was the winner of the "Best Home-Based Business" category at the 2011 Influential Women in Business Awards.

Joanna has also produced work for many local websites.  Joanna’s gift cards can be purchased at Chapman’s Newsagency, Mount Gambier, Koonara Wines, Penola and Loaves and Fishes, Robe.  Joanna’s landscape photographs can be purchased for private sale, also.  Joanna is popular choice for weddings and family portraits in the South East.

As well as her photography business, Joanna volunteers in local schools to help students with self esteem issues - a topic she feels very passionately toward.    She is also a "Blue Voice" for Australia's largest depression and mental health oragnisation, Beyond Blue and one day hopes to become an Ambassador.  In May, 2012, Joanna is launching her debut book, 'Out of the Blue', which will be sold Australia-wide as well as in New Zealand.  (Copies will be sold on this website soon...)

Joanna and Rob welcomed daughter Darcy in July, 2011.
