Wellness Seminar, 2015

Posted by Jo on 14 December 2014 | 0 Comments

I am SO excited to be co-ordinating and hosting a four-week wellness seminar to be help at The Barn in the Oaktree Room in February, 2015.  I came up with the idea earlier this year.  I desperately wanted to visit Melbourne for the Body, Mind and Soul Expo and when I didn't make it, I wasn't happy!  It got me thinking about seminars, expos, talks etc.  As you would know if you are a regular reader of my blog or follow me on Instagram (@joannafincham) I am passionate about good health and wellness.  Next year, I am studying online through the Institure of Integretive Nutrition in New York to become a qualified Health and Wellness Coach.  So, I was toying with the idea of putting on a seminar here to help guide others to their maximum health and wellness.  I was going to ask local people in the wellness arena to talk, but then thought, why don't I co-ordinate an event that country-based poeple would have to travel to the cities for and bring it here!  So, I have!  I have sourced the best speakers in all areas of wellness from around Australia to come here and speak to you.  Lola Berry, Kate Toholka, Stephanie Prem and myself will help guide you to start your wellness journey.  Or, if you have already started, this will serve as wonderful inspiration to keep you going.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Monday, 15th December) at Chapmans Newsagency for $375.00.  This is for the full four weeks.  Healthy, locally made snacks will be provided as well as many more surpises and goodies along the way.  I can't give too much away!  Seats are strictly limited to 80, so get in quick.  I would LOVE to see you there...  Namaste xxxx  (A huge thank you to my sponsors - Active8 Gym,  Ecologie Organics, Fuss Wellness Spa, She's Apples and The Commodore on the Park).  For more information, please visit my Wellness page on Facebook, The Well Nest with Joanna Fincham

Thank you to The Border Watch, (Friday 12th December, 2104).

Kirby Family Portraits

Last weekend, I travelled to a nearby farm to photograph good friends of ours', the Kirby family.  It was such a fun shoot!  The kids had me laughing all afternoon with their new dog being hilarious, too.  These photos are nice and relaxed and represent the family exactly how they are - lots of fun!  Thank you to Liza and Michael and their four gorgeous kids, Amy, Chloe, Mia and Charlie.

Kirby Shearing fro Outback Magazine

A few weeks ago, I photographed Kirby Shearing. Kirby is a local chef who is passionate about using local produce as well as finding native herbs and plants to use in his amazing dishes.  His restaurant at The Lakes Resort, Soul Projects is divine and well worth a visit if you live here in the South East.  Below are just a few photos I captured which appear in the latest edition of Outback Magazine.

Hilary and Tom's Country Wedding

Posted by Jo on 11 November 2014 | 0 Comments

Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of photographing a friend of mine's wedding.  Hilary and Tom exchanged vows at her family's farm where Hilary grew up.  The weather was absolutely perfect, there were flowers as far as the eye could see and Hilary and Tom, along with their families and friends, were happy, relaxed and enjoyed what was a perfect day.  Thank you to everybody involved for making the day to enoyable to capure.  I wish them both every happiness in the future and I'm looking forward to sharing a glass of champagne with them soon!  Lots of love xx

I have to say, the view of the marquee at dusk really was truly breathtaking...

We are currently on a family holiday in Noosa and loving every minute of it.  This place is special to us as we come here every year in October.  Below are just a few family happy snaps (taken on my Iphone, so nothing too special in quality!) but just a little update of our little family x

Maggie turns one next month.  Where has the time gone?

Darcy is now 3 and a half!

Skin Jewel Tattoos

I have a new product I love!  I must admit, I love tattoos.  Well, some tattoos!  I have three and they all mean something significant to me.  However, the other day, I discovered the Skin Jewel Tattoo company which makes tattoo transfers which stay on for approximately 2-3 days.  They look so cute!  I was in a shop yesterday here in Noosa, (yes, we are on holidays...) and yes, I bought some.  Gorgeous and lots of fun!

A Visit To Melbourne and Family Portraits

Posted by Jo on 22 October 2014 | 0 Comments

A few weeks ago, I travelled to Melbourne to visit family and friends.  Whilst I was there, I met a beautiful family who commissioned me to do take their family portraits.  The sun shone and the birds were chirping.  I 'met' Alison via social media after I discovered her beautiful Instagram account (@baysidevintage) Alison runs an online retail business selling hand-picked French brocante and vintage homewares.  She posted a vintage French serving platter which I bought and still adore.  So, it was so lovely to finally meet her and her beautiful family in person!  We travelled to the Botanic Gardens and had a beautiful morning in the sunhsine with Alison, her husband Martin and their two  boys, James and Ryan.  Thank you for making my job so much fun!  Below are just a few photos captured...

Superfood Bliss Balls

Posted by Jo on 2 October 2014 | 1 Comments

I am on a wellness journey, and have been for quite some time.  By combining regular exercise, great nutrition, practicing gratitude and meditation, I can honestly say, I feel the best I have in a loooooong time!  But just because I practice a clean diet doesn't mean I don't crave treats here and there!  I have made ooooooooodles of batches of protein balls, but I believe the recipe I made yesterday is my favourite!  So - why not share it with you all!

You will need:  (Use organic products where possible)

1/2 cup LSA

1/4 cup activated buckinis

1/2 cup almonds

1/2 cup cashews

1/4 cup bee pollen

1/4 cup sultanas

6 dates

1/4 cup raw honey

1/4 cup cold-pressed coconut oil

1/4 cup shredded coconut

1/4 cup gogi berries

1/4 cup dried cranberries

1 1/2 tbl raw cocao

1 tblsp coconut sugar

In a food processor, combine activated buckinis, almonds, cashews, bee pollen, sultanas, shredded coconut, gogi berries and dried cranberries and pulse until fine.  Add this mixture to a large mixing bowl.  Finely chop the dates.  Add these to the mixture.  Add honey, melted coconut oil, LSA, cocao and cocnut sugar and combine with your hands.  Roll into bite size balls.  If mixure is a little crumbly, simply add extra honey or coconut oil.  I find the balls form easier if you pulse the mixture in your palm first to warm the mixute.  Refridgerate for at least 2 hours before eating!  (Will keep for up to one week)

Enjoy everybody! xx
