My Book Launch

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my book will be launching at the Mount Gambier library on Wednesday, 27th of June. Anybody is welcome! My book is already in it's third print run and I am so happy. I am receiving the most beautiful emails from people all over Australia who are opening up their hearts to tell me their stories of mental illness. I am so happy to hear that my book is helping in a small way and would like to give you all a huge hug! Stay strong and keep the beautiful emails coming. I am writing back to you all, I may just run a little behind! xx

I was in bed last night reading my Madison magazine when I came across an ad for Harper's Bazaar that has the most amazing photograph of Nicole Kidman with her youngest daughter on the cover. I looked at this and just absolutely loved it. It is simply stunning...

Rob and I went to see The Lucky One recently and absolutely loved it. Well, I did! I would say Rob liked it a lot! Zac Efron's character is one any girl would swoon over and the story line and soundtrack is gorgeous. I really lovely movie for a rainy day...

'Ave an Avocado!

Last week on a whirlwind 24 hour trip to Sydney, I made time to have breakfast with my good friend Jaynie and her two sons Hayden and Remy. I saw on the menu a fetta and avocado mash with rocket. I ordered and it was delicious! I made my own version at home. Simply mash half an avocado and some fetta in a bowl, then spoon onto a thin slice of bruscetta. (I bought a packet bruschetta from my local deli and it was delicious!) Add a touch of sea salt and a little lemon juice and you have yourself a delicious afternoon (or morning) snack!

This evening, Rob went outside top feed our 4 calves we are bucket rearing. He made a dash inside to tell me the moon was unbelievable and to go out and take a photograph. Photographing anything of this subject can prove difficult, so the below photograph doesn't do it justice, but the golden glow and size of the moon was unbelievable! I then heard on the news it was the largest full moon in 20 years. Thank you to the Universe that I saw it!

Every season is a beautiful time of year, but the colours of the leaves changing this time of the year is magnificent. Travelling to and from Melbourne and the farm recently, I noticed the amazing colours in the leaves. The cooler yet sunny days and the rich colours of the foliage makes for beautiful scenery anywhere you go...

I sincerely apologise for my lack of blogs over the last couple of weeks! I have been to Sydney and Melbourne promoting my book and trying to edit my last wedding, (not to mention being a mum!) it's proved difficult to sit down and blog. I promise to bring you a fresh new batch very shortly. My book has been very well received, and is now into it's 3rd print run. I have been receiving the most amazing emails from people who have read my book , some which bring me to tears. It's emotional reading life stories of people you don't even know, but have been touched by reading my book. Please keep them coming. It's beautiful. I have also found out that a school in Melbourne has included it in their reading list. So to everybody who has written to me to express thank yous, i truly appreciate your honesty and words. I will be back soon! Until then, keep smiling... x

Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake

I was interviewed this morning by Catherine from The Stock Journal about my book, and I realised I had nothing sweet to nibble on with a cup of tea. So, I whipped up a very easy cake that was a winner. I have always loved poppy seeds, and they are delicious in a cake. They give that lovely little bit of crunch! I made the cake from a traditional teacake recipe, but added juice and rind of 1 lemon and 1/4 cup of poppy seeds...

Yesterday, the fire was roaring and i made a beautiful big pot of vegetable soup. There is nothing nicer than a beautiful big bowl of hearty soup and some crusty bread with butter on a cold day. I added a little chorizo sausage, too for a little extra bite. Which means only one thing... Casseroles and stews are on the agenda, also!

I was recently commissioned by Outback Magazine to photograph Andrew Ogilvie, the CEO of the Cattle Council of Australia. I travelled to one of his properties and photographed him in his environemnt with with beautiful hereford cattle. Thank you to Andrew for being so easy to work with and for helping me with directions when I took a wrong turn!

Outback Magazine has put out a new publication. Outback Dining features 25 of the best outback restaurants in Australia. The South East was featured with the beautiful Pipers of Penola being highlighted, with photography by yours truly... A great publication.

Save the Date - Mental Health Forum

I am blogging about a very important event coming up which is taking place in Naracoorte. The Naracoorte Area Health Advisory Council have organised a Mental Health forum to be held at the Naracoorte Town Hall on May 2nd at 7pm. The evening will be hosted by Glen Manton, as well as speakers Grace McClure, Dr Warwick Black, Phillip Galley and Sophie Bourchier. The objective of the forum is to raise the awareness of mental health in our community, recognising signs as well as providing information of the health services provided at a local, state and national level. I was asked to be a guest speaker, however due to prior commitments, I am most disappointed I am unable to speak on the night. However, I look forward to hearing how the night went.
